Broker Remarks
She is an Elegant Blue Water Cruising Yacht, available through Network Yacht Brokers Barcelona. Built in 1980 to a Claude GRAFF design, her stats are very impressive indeed.
This elegant sailing yacht was designed to go anywhere, she was conceived with the thought in the designer's mind that she would remain safe at sea in virtually any weather conditions. This strong safe design being supported by GRP Hand laid laminate with continuous diagonals laid up to give maximum strength in the area of maximum stress.
Her one-piece hull with integrated chain plates that have been included in the lamination make her one of the toughest GRP designs built. Various thicknesses of laminate ranging from 60mm keel sole, 34 mm garboard, 24 mm riboard, 20 mm to waterline and 17 mm topsides compound her strength. 15mm Burma teak deck laid on top of 15 mm plywood. All bolt work and fittings are 316 stainless steel.
Charlie the Bird is one of the famous Chebec Yachts, built for endurance sailing. Throughout her active life, Charlie has been very well maintained and upgraded. In 2002 she was fitted with a new Perkins engine and new teak decks. Most recent upgrades have been anti osmosis treatment by Jotun in 2016.
