The Contest 33 is a classic fin and skeg cruiser-racer from the 1970s, from a high-quality Dutch builder. This 1974 example has a very tidy interior. Unusually for a traditional yacht of this size, she also has wheel steering. If you are thinking of a Rival 31 or Contessa 32, have a look at this less well-known yacht instead.
Accommodation
The Contest 33 offers 5 berths in 2 cabins with 6' 1" headroom. Two berths forward with v-berth infill. Heads to port with marine toilet, drawers and hanging cupboard opposite. Saloon with settee berths to port and starboard, folding dining table and stowage outboard. Galley to starboard aft with gas cooker with two burners, stainless steel sink with pressurised fresh water system and a coolbox/fridge. Chart table to port aft with instrumentation, electrical panel and quarter berth. Green coloured cushions Curtains to windows. 120 litre water tank.
Mechanical and Rigging
The Contest 33 is powered by a single 1984 Volvo Penta twin cylinder 23hp inboard diesel engine, shaft drive to a fixed two bladed propeller. 75 litre steel fuel tank. 5 knots cruising speed and approx. 6 knots max speed under engine.
2 x 12-volt batteries (2018) charging from the engine alternator.
