Accommodation
Below Deck
The beam forward design benefits are apparent below, with the spacious cabin this 28-footer offers.
A galley, enclosed head and room for several people to stay overnight. She boasts six berths in two cabins, with a fixed double berth in the bow, a private spacious double aft cabin, and the other two berths come from the dinette area, by lowering the table and a cushion infill.
The enclosed heads compartment has a hot and cold shower, hand basin, sea toilet, mirror and plenty of storage. To port is the galley consisting sink, fridge, draws and cupboard space. The whole cabin is carpeted throughout, has curtains, lights and 3 opening hatches.
The V-berth is a full six feet down the centerline, and there are storage shelves above and on either side. Over on the starboard side are two facing benches with a table that drops down to form another berth at night. There is a full wet head compartment with nice ceiling heights. Under the cockpit is another berth with 42” of room at the head and 28” at the foot. Plenty of natural lighting from portals abound in this set up.
At the Helm
The helm features a VHF Radio, Compass. The Bayliner 285 has a fantastic cockpit layout allowing plenty of friends and family to join you boating. The cockpit is well laid out with a single helm position, L- shaped seating to port, which can be converted to a sunbed. Aft she has two bench seats with a removable cockpit table. Further aft through the transom door swim platform with a transom shower and boarding ladder. Equipped with lights, removable cockpit carpet and cup holders she has all the comforts you would expect on a 28ft cruiser
Engine
A large engine hatch in the floor has two pulls, but the starboard pull is the only one that is truly useful. The hatch springs up easily, and has gas-assist shocks to keep it open. There is plenty of room below to work around the engine.
