Beneteau 281 Clipper for sale in Kent 

This Beneteau 281 Clipper was built in 1999 and is an excellent family cruiser, with the benefit of  all lines led aft to the cockpit for easy sailing.

This vessel “La Mouette” offers 6 berths across 2 cabins, benefiting from standing rigging that was replaced in 2023, running rigging that was replaced in 2023, a 20 Litre hold tank, a 50 Litre freshwater tank, and Garmin Chartplotter. The current owner has enjoyed the vessel for the last 2 years and is now looking to sell due to moving away. 

The price of the vessel has been reduced to reflect work that need undertaking following a recent survey. A copy of the recent survey is available upon request.

This vessel will be available to view at the Used Boat Show in Chatham Marina, Kent,  between 10:00 and 16:00 on Saturday, 12^th April, and Sunday, 13^th April 2025.

Accommodation

This Beneteau 281 Clipper “La Mouette” provides 6 berths in 2 cabins, with a maximum headroom of approximately six feet.

The forepeak features a double berth with shelf storage to both sides of the berth. The forepeak can be closed off from the saloon by drawing the curtains across and thus makes an ideal berth for two juniors. This area is flooded with natural light by an opening deck hatch.

Moving aft of the forepeak, the saloon offers a booth seating area with a central folding table the two settee berths with under berth storage and cupboard storage behind the settee. This area benefits from four large portholes.

Located on the portside of the saloon is the chart table with internal chart storage, instrumentation including the VHF, Battery indicator and vessel distribution panel. 

Aft of the navigation station is the Heads which has a marine toilet with 20 litre holding tank, washbasin with hot and cold water and a shower. 

Opposite the chart table on the portside within the saloon is the galley, equipped with a gimbaled 2-burner gas hob with an oven and grill, a single stainless-steel sink with pressurised hot and cold water, 12v Fridge, and ample storage space. This vessel also benefits from a 50 Litre freshwater capacity tank. Water is heated by the engine and 240v immersion heater.

Aft of the galley on the portside is a large aft cabin with a double berth, hanging locker and two portholes.

The companionway steps lead to the aft cockpit, featuring bench seating for up to six people and generous storage located to starboard. The cockpit instrumentation includes a compass, wind direction indicator, and speed log, with engine controls positioned to the portside.

This Beneteau 281 Clipper offers a Bermudan Masthead Sloop, with a deck stepped 1999 Z-Spars Aluminium mast and boom, with stainless steel standing rigging. Equipped with a furling headsail, a slab reef, battened mainsail with a stack pack, Lazy Jacks and a manual back stay adjuster.  The stainless-steel standing rigging was replaced 2023, and the running rigging was also replaced in 2023.

Mechanical Systems:

This Beneteau 281 Clipper is equipped with a Volvo MD2020, 19HP 3-cylinder, indirect cooled diesel engine with Morse controls. The Volvo MD2020 is powering a shaft driven 3 bladed fixed propeller with rope cutter. This engine is supplied by a 20-litre plastic fuel tank.

The Beneteau 281 Clipper was last serviced in 2023 by the owner and should achieve a cruising speed of approximately 6 knots and a maximum speed of 8 knots. 


Electrical Systems:

This vessel is equipped with 2 x 12v batteries. (1 x 130 AH domestic battery replaced in 2023, & 1 x 75AH engine start battery approximately 10 years old.) These batteries are all charged by the engine alternator and via a 240v battery charger. 

This Beneteau 281 Clipper is also benefits from a 240- volt shore power, with outlets throughout the vessel along with a 240v immersion heater.

History and Construction:

This Beneteau 281 Clipper was built in 1999. It has a white GRP Hull and superstructure with mounded non-slip decks with teak cockpit seats.  It has a cast iron fin keel and balanced spade rudder with tiller steering.  The yacht was last out of the water in the spring of 2023 when it was antifouled, hull polished, and anodes changed. The gas system was also checked at this time. The yacht has been owned by the current owner since 2023 and is only being sold as he is moving away. She is presented in very good condition.
