Colvic Countess 28 for sale in Kent.

This 1984 Colvic Countess offers six berths in two cabins with a double V berth in the forward cabin, two singles and a double in the saloon. This Colvic Countess benefits from a 1999 Volvo Penta engine, it has a 113 Litre freshwater capacity, along with a Garmin GPS/Chartplotter and NASA Duet speed log and depth gauge. This particular Colvic Countess was built with a shallow bilge to provide more standing headroom. A berth at Swale Marina is also available.

Accommodation

This Colvic Countess 28 provides accommodation for up to six people across two cabins, with a maximum headroom of approximately six feet due to a lowered saloon floor.

The forepeak features a V-berth with ample under and over berth storage, with additional shelve storage to both port and starboard, this berth also easily converts it into a double berth via an infill with reading lights above the berths, with natural light provided by an overhead deck hatch. 

Moving aft, the separate heads compartment to the port side with a marine toilet, a white sink set in a vanity unit, offering manually pumped cold water with an electric shower pump and shower tray.

The saloon features an off-centre table to port with booth seating and a settee berth to starboard. These berths provide convenient storage under the seats and on shelves behind them. The 12V fridge is located under the rear seating. The booth seating area can also be easily converted into a double berth with reading lights above both berths.

Located on the port side aft within the saloon, the galley is equipped with a gimbaled 2-burner gas hob with an oven and grill, a single stainless-steel sink with pressurised cold water, and ample storage space.

This vessel also benefits from a 113 Litre freshwater capacity tank.

Adjacent to the galley located to starboard is a quarter berth with under berth and shelf storage.

Ascending the companionway leads to the spacious aft cockpit, featuring bench seating for up to six people and generous storage in a deep locker. The cockpit instrumentation includes a compass, depth gauge, wind direction indicator, and speed log, with engine controls conveniently positioned at the rear.

This Colvic Countess 28 features a Masthead, Bermudan Sloop rig, with a deck-stepped 1980 aluminium Proctor mast and boom, with stainless steel standing rigging that was replaced in 2000. Equipped with a furling headsail and a slab reef mainsail with lazy Jacks and adjustable back stay. The running rigging has been replaced as and when needed.

Mechanical Systems:
The Colvic Countess 28 is equipped with a 28HP Volvo Penta MD2030 diesel engine, installed in 1999 propelling a shaft-mounted three-bladed fixed propeller, operated via Morse controls. The engine was overhauled in 2023 including, head gasket, new water pump and new exhaust elbow. Fuel is stored in a 50-liter stainless steel tank. The engine was last serviced in November 2023, and the owner has completed a service every year for the last 25 years.

This Countess 28 can achieve a cruising speed of approximately 5 knots, at 1800rpm with a flow rate of 1/3 GPH in calm conditions, with a maximum speed of approximately 7 knots. 

Electrical Systems:
The Colvic Countess 28 is equipped with three 12-volt batteries, comprising one for engine use and two for domestic purposes. These batteries charge directly from the engine alternator, solar panel and 240v battery charger.

This Colvic Countess 28 also benefits from 2 x 240- volt 13amp sockets and a Guest battery management system to ensure optimal performance of the electrical setup onboard.

History & Construction

Constructed by Colvic Marine in 1984 according to an Ian Anderson design. Featuring a white GRP hull adorned with a teak rubbing strake, self-draining cockpit, and white GRP decks and blue non-slip Treadmaster surfaces. Its stability is ensured by two encapsulated bilge keels, with skeg hung rudder and tiller steering.

The boat was last out of the water in 2023/24 when she was last antifouled, the anodes were last replaced in 2018. The owner has enjoyed the vessel for the last 25 years and is selling due to retiring from sailing.
