Broker Remarks

1982 Dufour 4800 CS for sale in Kent
This is a rare opportunity to purchase a 1982 Dufour 4800 CS which has been owned by the current owner for the past 38 years and is only being sold as he has passed away. This cruiser/racer offers seven berths in two cabins plus the saloon. It is only one of three Dufour 4800CS with a lead keel and 500LBS of lead ballast. It has a special Stearn mast, black anodised and was ordered with oversized winches to make sail handling easy. Unfortunately, we have little information on the maintenance that has been carried out over the years but the family believe that it has been well maintained. This yacht has just been antifouled, May 2024, 2 seacocks changed, the hull polished new anode and is ready for the season. A berth at MDL Chatham marina is available.

Accommodation

This Dufour 4800 CS offers seven berths in three cabins.

The Forecabin:

The Forecabin has a V-berth with infill which makes into a double berth. There is also lots of storage space and an opening hatch to the deck.

Located aft of the forecabin is the Heads area which has a marine to Port and sink with manual pumped cold water to Starboard.

Aft of the Heads is the saloon which has an U-shaped seating area to Port with a large saloon table that will drop to make into a double berth. The saloon settees have storage underneath. There is also a single berth opposite and good sized portholes and deck hatch that make the space light and airy.  The saloon has a good cosy feel that is enhanced by the hot water radiators that are heated throughout.

Galley:

Located aft of the saloon and to port has an L shaped galley with twin stainless steel sinks with hand pumped cold water, a two burner gas cooker with oven, cool box and lots of storage space for crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. Crockery and Cutlery will be included in the sale.

Navigation Station:

The aft facing Navigation station is locked aft of the saloon and to starboard. It has a large chart-table and lots of room for the navigation instruments to be mounted on the bulkhead. There are some existing instruments that do require updating.

Aft Cabin:

Aft of the galley is a good sized aft cabin with a large double berth under the cockpit sole with hanging wardrobe. It also has a sink with manually pumped cold water.

The Dufour 4800 CS was built between 1981 and 1984. We are not aware of many being sold to the Uk with the majority being sold into Europe and the USA.
