White Bear
Over 200 Cygnus GM32 boats have been built and 'White Bear' is believed to be one of just six built as a trawler yacht.
Her first owners sailed the boat from the UK through the French canal system to the Mediterranean and then sold her in 1994/95 to a French couple who transferred her to the French Registry. They sailed the boat in the Med for several years then berthed in the Greek island of Naxos in the southern Aegean where the previous owner purchased her in 2004.
From Naxos, 'White Bear' was sailed to Pireus, Athens, then via the Corinth Canal to Corfu and Dubrovnik then on to Koper in Slovenia where she was loaded onto transport for a road trip to Troon.
'White Bear' was sailed in the Clyde and Western Isles until 2011, when she was loaded onto transport at Troon for another road trip, this time to Rovinj on the Istrian Peninsula in north west Croatia.
For the following ten years, she was sailed all over the Adriatic Istrian and Dalmatian coasts and then Brexit and Covid came along and it was decided to bring 'White Bear' back to the UK. In 2021 she was then loaded to transport for another road trip, this time back to Troon.
Over winter 2023 - 2024 she was stored ashore and has had a number of improvements and maintenance carried out, launched March 2024
Cygnus Marine
The Cygnus GM32 was conceived as a multi-purpose costal fishing vessel, built in GRP, and has proven to be a classic design and the recognised standard for coastal fishermen. Every craft is constructed carefully in accordance with the needs of each individual skipper, to suit his particular style of fishing or methods of working.
Features include a modern round bilge, heavy displacement design providing excellent stability characteristics, good cargo carrying capacity and spacious deck working area. The hull is easily driven and needs only relatively low power to achieve a very economic performance.
A small number of different cruising motor boats were based on the Cygnus GM32 hull with a few, reputably six, built as trawler yachts and fitted out by Bryce Waterhouse Marine Co.
