Broker Remarks
HALLBERG-RASSY 36 Mk1, Hull No 71, built in 1990. White GRP hull with traditional Hallberg blue livery.
The Hallberg Rassy 36 was built between 1989 to 2003 with a total of 602 hulls being produced. Boats No 1-256, from 1989-1994, were the Mk1. The Mk1 has a narrower transom above the waterline and narrower superstructure and walk-decks aft than the Mk II, which has a retroussé transom with integrated swim platform. Amidships and forward, the boats are the same. The wide blue brim in the hull is 5 cm wider on the Mk I, but the under-water shape, keel, rudder and rig remain the same.
The 36 is a mid-range model; small enough, yet big enough to go anywhere, at any time. Designed and constructed by yachtsmen to combine the latest in technology and traditional standards, providing all the comfort and lines expected from a Hallberg-Rassy. The interior is very well laid out and allows unimpeded passage from one end of the boat to the other. The sturdy mast support comes together with the main bulkhead and not through the table or sofa. There is a big, forward facing chart table with ample sitting room. The 36 also has surprising performance for her type, the result of very thorough design work on the hull parameters and shape by her designer, Germán Frers. The moderate V sections consequently result in a very sea-worthy and safe boat which even in the heaviest weather provides a secure motion at sea that is normally only found in larger yachts.
"Arabesque" has been carefully maintained by her current owners who purchased her in Britanny in 2013. She was then moved to Chatham (2013-15), Ramsgate (2015-17), and finally to Chichester Marina. She has cruised the Thames Estuary and East Coast, the length of the South Coast and has crossed the Channel to Ostend, Gravelines and Channel Islands. Her specification includes, but is not limited to: Fin keel, teak deck, wheel steering and skeg hung rudder. Coppercoat May 2016.
