Superbly appointed Dutch Barge on an appropriate mooring in Chelsea. Chester is a unique Dutch barge built in 1925, moored on Cadogan Pier, with picturesque views of Chelsea Embankment, Albert Bridge and Battersea Park. This fully functional barge has been extensively renovated in recent years and features solid teak panelling throughout. This spectacular vessel is an exceptional place to stay in London and can also be used to explore the waterways of the UK, or cruise further afield across the channel to the Netherlands and France. Featuring a wheelhouse room, saloon with galley kitchen, bathroom, double bedroom, extensive storage as well as a huge deck. Boarding from the pier leads either to a large deck - the perfect place to sit and take in the views - or into the boat's wheelhouse. This room, with windows on all sides, features bench seating and is ideal for dining while taking in the 360° panorama. The room also features Chester's wheel and navigational tools (see specification for details). Down the stairway from the wheelhouse is the large open plan saloon panelled in teak throughout and which, although recently restored, retains the atmosphere of the 1920s when the boat was built. The care taken over the modernisation shows everywhere: from the brass fittings of the portholes, skylight and cupboards to the ingenious use of space in the custom-built galley kitchen and extensive storage down the full length of the boat's sides. The saloon is approximately 6.8m long by 3.3m wide, offering plenty of room for a study area, living area and the kitchen. At the end of the saloon opposite to the study area is the galley kitchen, which offers gas hob, gas oven with grill and fridge with freezer all hidden behind teak panels. At the far end of the saloon a pair of spectacular hand carved stained glass double doors lead to the bathroom with a stunning freestanding full size roll-top bath, shower, wash basin, WC and plenty of storage - once again all panelled in teak. The Skipper's cabin, down from the wheelhouse, maximises space with a custom made mattress the full size of the teak lined space. Surrounding this are clever storage alcoves, including illuminated champagne buckets, creating a feeling of luxury and romance.
