Broker Remarks

Brokers Remarks:
The Westerly Oceanranger 38 is the model developed to supersede the Corsair 36. With the extra 2 foot, she lends herself to comfortable long-distance cruising and coastal passages. The Oceanranger 38 performance is excellent significantly when the breeze increases. She is well balanced and feels safe in a seaway; this is partly due to her centre cockpit arrangement being lower in the boat than most centre cockpit boats. Thus, ensuring an element of protection from the cockpit coaming, you are not raised in a more exposed and vulnerable elevated cockpit that most Centre cockpit boats are known for.

This Westerly Oceanranger 38 benefits from having the higher-rated 40hp Volvo Penta engine, which has been maintained to a high standard with regular services. Other upgrades over the years include adding an Areo4gen wind generator, Sterling mains powered battery charger and a new canvas sprayhood 2020. In addition, there is a Lofrans electric windlass, Ocean Safety 6 man liferaft, Webasto diesel fired cabin heating and complete renewal of the interior hull lining and headlining!

Owners Remarks:
Kilrush was initially specified for a liveaboard in the Mediterranean. However, the present owner kept her for many years in harbours on the West coast of Scotland, cruising extensively in the islands and Ireland.

Subsequently, she was relocated on the South coast and mainly cruised to the Channel Islands and the West coast of France. She is sea-kindly and very suitable for dealing with coastal cruising along with the “chops of the Channel” and long-distance passage making. Recently she has proved popular with the grandchildren for day sailing and short cruises.
