This 1978 Seal 28 lifting keel yacht offers six berths in 3 cabins, including the saloon in a simple yet practical layout. This Seal 28 benefits from a 2015 Beta 20hp diesel engine with part service history. The vessel also benefits 45 Litre freshwater capacity along with a Chart plotter, Radar, AIS and Autopilot. The yacht is being offered for sale with an array of engine and rigging spares.  A yard trolley is also available by separate negotiation. She is an ideal yacht for the East Coast.

Accommodation

This Seal 28 provides comfortable accommodation for up to six people across three cabins, with a maximum headroom of approximately 6 feet.

The forepeak features a V-berth with ample under-berth and shelve storage above and to port and starboard, this berth easily converts it into a double berth via an infill. This cabin benefits from rack and cupboard storage located on the starboard side with natural light provided by an overhead deck hatch.

Moving aft located on the starboard side is the heads compartment with a marine toilet, with a white sink with manual pumped cold water. This space also includes shelf storage behind the toilet and under the sink.

The saloon features a central folding table with two leaves, flanked by settee berths on both the port and starboard sides. These berths provide convenient storage under the seats and on shelves behind them. Navigational instrumentation is located on the saloon wall with GPS, Depth gage and Auto pilot.

Located on the port side aft within the saloon, is the galley equipped with a gimbaled 2-burner gas hob with an oven and grill, a single sink with manually pumped cold water, cool box and storage spaces. This vessel also benefits from a 45 Litre freshwater capacity.

Adjacent to the galley is a rear-facing chart table with battery indicators,12v sockets and vessel control switches. Located under the chart table is a quarter berth with under berth.

This Seal 28 also benefits from a Catalitic Diesel cabin heater, CD/Radio and Tv/dad Player.

Ascending the companionway leads to the spacious aft cockpit, featuring bench seating for up to six people and generous storage located. There are two further single berths, located under the cockpit seats , that are accessed from aft cabin which is accessed from the cockpit. 

The cockpit instrumentation includes a compass, wind direction indicator, and speed log, with engine controls positioned at the rear.

Mechanical and Rigging

Sails and Spars:

This Seal 28 features a masthead, Bermudan rig, with a deck-stepped 2014 aluminium Sailspar mast and boom with stainless steel standing rigging. Equipped with a Plastimo furling headsail and a slab reef mainsail with lazy Jacks and stackpack. The standing and running rigging were replaced in 2014. All lines are led aft to the cockpit to make single handed sailing easier. 

This Seal 28 benefits from an aluminium spinnaker pole, whisper pole and a manual backstay.

Mechanical Systems:

The Seal 28 is equipped with a 20HP Beta diesel engine, installed in 2015 propelling a shaft-mounted three-bladed fixed propeller, operated via Morse controls. Fuel is stored in a 70-litre stainless steel tank. The engine was last serviced in 2023 with some service history available. The yacht is being offered for sale with lots of engine spares. 

This Seal 28 can achieve a cruising speed of approximately 5 knots, with a maximum speed of around 6 knots.

Electrical Systems:

The Seal 28 is equipped with three 12-volt batteries, comprising one for engine use, replaced in 2023, and two for domestic replaced in 2024. These batteries charge directly from the engine alternator and a solar panel and via a 240v battery charger. 

This Seal 28 also benefits from a 240- volt ring main throughout the vessel and a battery management system to ensure optimal performance of the electrical setup onboard.

History & Construction:

Constructed by John Baker UK in 1978 according to an Angus Primrose design. Featuring a yellow GRP hull adorned with a aluminium toe rail, self-draining cockpit, and white GRP decks and white non-slip painted surfaces. Its stability is ensured by a folding keel, with tiller steering. 

The boat was last out of the water in 2022 when the anodes were changed and antifouled.
