1994 Barbican 33
The Barbican 33 is an attractive classic Maurice Griffiths design with a long keel and shallow draft. She has a large deep cockpit with wheel steering and accommodation for up to five. Moulded by Barbican Yachts in 1994. Whilst being a design from the 70's/80's, "Avalon” is a recent example, very well fitted. A solid cruising yacht.
Accommodation
The Barbican 33 offers 5 berths in 2 cabins. Forward cabin; V berth with storage beneath. Opening deck hatch. Heads with sea toilet, new in 2018, stainless steel washbasin with mixer tap and shower. Wet hanging locker to starboard.
Saloon; L-shaped settee to port with plenty of storage space, central table and settee to starboard. Opening hatch over. Large Galley; aft to starboard with Flavel gas cooker, 2 burners, oven and grill. Double s/steel sink, with mixer tap. Top opening refrigerated cool box, plenty of stowage. Aft to port, large chart table with storage, switchboard and provision for instruments.
Quarter berth aft to port. A very well finished interior with rich teak joinery, including to coachroof sides. Carpeted and curtains throughout, upholstery in velvet beige print. Heating via a Plastimo catalytic heater.
Mechanical and Rigging
Deck stepped masthead sloop with Sailspar silver anodised alloy mast and slab reefing boom with lazyjacks. Sprung rod kicker. Furling headsail system. Original stainless steel wire standing rigging. Terylene running rigging led aft to 7 clutches in cockpit. Spinnaker pole. Genoa tracks with adjustable cars.

Single lever controls with electric start. Shaft drive to a 3-bladed propeller, via Aqua drive to shaft. Also, fitted with a bowthruster controlled from foot switch in the cockpit.

Long full keel
Owned by the current owners from new, who have sailed extensively in Holland, Northern France, Germany, Belgium, UK east coast and the Solent. Reluctantly selling as age is catching up with them. “Avalon” has been well cared for in their ownership, and is well equipped. Viewing highly recommended.
This Barbican 33 MK II has a GRP Hull (with blue/white gelcoat finish), deck and superstructure with Balsa core. Hull was epoxied from new in 1994. Coppercoat 2013 Deck with non-slip blue paint, self-draining cockpit. Encapsulated long keel, keel hung rudder and wheel steering. She has been well looked after and well maintained by the current owner, who has owned her from September 2017 ( one previous owner) and comes with a set of equipment and engine manuals. Last out of the water September 2017.
