This Bavaria 38 Exclusive offers accommodation for six people in three cabins, with two heads, and benefits from 6ft head room throughout the boat. Combining safe comfortable spacious accommodation, good-sized cockpit and great sailing performance, this Bavaria 38 Exclusive is well suited for families, or even longer distance sailors. She has only had five previous owners; we recommend early viewing to avoid disappointment. the owner is only selling do to a change in family circumstances.

Accommodation

The forepeak features a spacious double V-berth over 6 feet in length, complemented by a generous standing area. Ample storage is available throughout the cabin, with multiple shelved and under-bunk lockers. The en-suite heads are well-proportioned, equipped with a sea toilet, sink, vanity unit, and shower, all set within a sleek, white moulded finish for easy maintenance. Hot water is provided by a Calorifier water heater and 240v immersion.

Moving aft, the saloon features an offset passageway forward on the starboard side and a centrally positioned drop-leaf table. A traditional bench-style settee runs along the starboard side, while a U-shaped settee wraps around the table to port. The saloon offers ample storage with a variety of overhead compartments and under-settee lockers on both sides.

A full-sized, forward-facing chart table is located to starboard at the aft end of the saloon, featuring convenient under-seat storage. The ship's switch panels and navigation equipment are easily accessible from the seated position. The table includes a spacious chart locker, along with a bosun's drawer and additional storage locker.

To port the L-shaped galley provides all equipment and generous storage required to cater for a full crew. The galley features a double stainless-steel sink equipped with pressurized hot and cold water. The galley also includes a gimballed 2-burner gas cooker and oven, a cool box and 12v fridge, and ample storage space.

Immediately aft of the galley is a spacious, well-designed aft cabin, featuring a generous double berth over 6 feet in length and a practical standing area for dressing. The cabin offers a variety of storage options, including shelving, hanging lockers, and an additional under-seat locker for added convenience.

The main heads, located on the starboard side opposite the galley, are impressively spacious for a boat of this size. A dedicated wet hanging locker is positioned at the aft end. The heads include a well-proportioned shower area, sea toilet, sink, and vanity unit, all finished in an easy-to-clean white moulded design. This Bavaria 38 Exclusive also benefits from TV/DVD Player and FM/CD Radio.

The cockpit is spacious enough to comfortably and safely accommodate a full crew during passage, with ample room for alfresco entertaining when at anchor. The wheel is centrally positioned at the aft end of the cockpit, accompanied by a full-width bench seat for the helmsman. All engine and navigation instruments and controls are conveniently housed within the binnacle.

A large, full-depth cockpit locker to starboard offers extensive storage for the boat's gear, while additional dedicated gas lockers are conveniently integrated within the helmsman's seat.

Sails and Spars

This Bavaria 38 Exclusive has a Bermudan Fractional sloop rig with a 1999 Selden silver anodised aluminium deck stepped mast and boom.  Secured by stainless steel standing rigging that was replaced in 2015 along with the Terylene running rigging. The yacht has a Furlex furling headsail and slab reefing mainsail, with lazy jacks and stackpack. All lines are led aft to the cockpit.

Mechanical Systems:

This Bavaria 38 Exclusive has a single, 40HP 1999 3-cylinder Volvo Penta diesel engine powering a Saildrive with a 2-blade fixed prop with a rope cutter. The Saildrive diaphragm was last changed in August 2022 and the engine was last serviced in March 2023 by Kent Marine Services.

This Volvo Penta is supplied by a 150-litre capacity steel fuel tank with Morse controls. The yacht will cruise at 6 knots under engine and has a maximum speed of 7 knots. 

Electrical Systems:

3 x 12v batteries (2 x 140Ah Domestic & 1 x 55Ah Engine) All batteries are charged from the engine alternator and a 240V battery charger via the 240V shore power ring main system which also has a hot water immersion heater attached. This Vessel also benefits from a new battery charger and charge monitor installed by current owner.

History & Construction:

This Bavaria 38 Exclusive was built in 1999 by Bavaria yachts in Germany, to a J & J design. The yacht has a white GRP hull and superstructure with Teak decks. She benefits from a fin keel, wheel steering and self-draining cockpit and anchor well. She was last out of the water in June and July 2024 when the hull was polished and anodes changed.  It has been owned by the current owner since 2020 and they are only selling due to a lack time to use and change in personal circumstances.
