Broker Remarks

One of Dr. T Harrison Butler,s 'Bogle' designs built by Harry Feltham of Portsmouth in 1934. Typical HB lines with long keel, pronounced sheer, spoon bow and shaped transom stern with transom hung rudder. Long coach roof, re-designed as 'Peradventure' in 1989 to extend forward of the mast.Pitch-pine hull (stripped to bare wood below waterline May 2007 and re-painted), all copper fastened to steamed oak timbers at 6” centres. Scrubbed teak deck (added in 1989), varnished teak coach roof with bronze ports, the coach –roof is also laid in teak. Sliding hatch and doors to cabin. Instrument console across sliding hatch. The deep cockpit coamings extend wider than the coach-roof with rounded forward corners. Self draining cockpit with scrub teak seat lockers each side and bridge deck. Lifting teak sole trap to access below (fuel tank). Lead keel with ferrous strap floors (May 2009 – centre 3 floor straps removed and inspected, 2 were replaced and the third refurbished and all galvanised). Plastic skin fittings replaced with bronze in May 2009. New bronze keel bolts were installed 1989 and the last one to be inspected was in April 2005 – bolt drawn by Weir Quay Boat Yard and found to be very good condition.

Accommodation

4 berths.
V-berth forward with infill, forehatch in coach-roof.
Part bulkhead to starboard deep locker and port heads (Baby Blake – last serviced 2004).
Saloon cabin has port and starboard settee berths (new cushions in 2005), shelves and lockers behind fitted with cane fronted doors.
Part-bulkheads with hand-holds to starboard galley (gimballed ‘Taylors’ paraffin cooker and paraffin fuel tank (added 2003) (available separately), sink with hand pump from pillow type water tank (installed May 2010) under forward berth and port chart table.
Wide step / surface with access to engine installation.
6’ head-room.
Varnished teak coamings and teak cabin sole.
‘Taylors’ paraffin cabin heater on forward bulkhead plumed in, chimney but no fuel tank.

Mechanical and Rigging

Mechanics:
Volvo MD7B Diesel Volvo 17hp 2 cylinder engine installed around 1982 (professionally rebuilt in February 2010)
Centre line 2 - blade prop replaced in June 2007 along with new shaft and coupling
New 33 litre plastic fuel tank added in 2003
Audible alarms
Delphi 105A/h house battery and Red Flash 700 – 12V 17A/h start battery (both purchased in 2004) attached to a 3 gang 701 switch square incorporating 50A VSR cluster
Dolphin 12v / 10 a charger
Electric and a very useful hand start.

Rigging:
Bermudian Cutter rig on keel steeped varnished mast, single spreaders, twin back-stays to quarters.
Stainless steel rigging all replaced in Nov 2005 by Allspars of Plymouth.
2 primary Lewmar 16 winches
2 Anderson Scandinavia 10 winches
Mast snubbing winches (main, staysail and jib).
Main sheet to stainless steel horse over tiller on the aft deck.
Mainsail, jib (on traveller and Wykeham Martin - No 3 furling gear) and staysail all made by Chris Scanes of Topsham Devon in Jan 2003.
