This 1980, Westerly Griffon 26 offers remarkable spaciousness and comfort relative to its size, boasting a simple yet practical layout. Renowned for its excellent handling while sailing, this yacht has been cherished by its current owner for the past 24 years, with only three previous owners in its history. This Westerly Griffon benefits from having a new engine fitted in 2021. This boat is currently out of the water but is ready for viewing. An early viewing is highly recommended.
Accommodation
This Westerly Griffon offers comfortable accommodation for up to six people spread across two cabins, with a maximum headroom of around 6 feet.
The forepeak features a vee berth with convenient under-berth storage and infill, which effortlessly converts it into a double berth. The forepeak is illuminated by natural light from an overhead deck hatch.
Moving aft, there is a separate Head's compartment equipped with a marine toilet and a wash basin supplied with manually pumped cold water. Headlinings have all been reassured.
Continuing towards the stern, the saloon boasts a central folding table with two leaves, surrounded by settee berths on both port and starboard sides, offering convenient under-seat and shelf storage behind. The port settee easily transforms into a double berth.
Positioned on the starboard side aft within the saloon, the galley has a gimbaled 2-burner gas stove with an oven and grill that was new in 2015, a single stainless-steel sink supplied with manual cold water, and ample storage space. Adjacent to the galley sits a quarter berth. Additionally, this Westerly Griffon comes equipped with a diesel cabin heater and a saloon-mounted CD player/radio.
Ascending the companionway leads to the expansive aft cockpit, complete with bench seating comfortably accommodating six people and offering generous storage within a deep locker. Instrumentation includes a compass, depth gauge, wind direction indicator, and speed log, with engine controls conveniently positioned at the rear of the cockpit.

This Westerly Griffon features a masthead Bermudan sloop rig, with a deck-stepped aluminium mast and boom. The mast is secured by stainless steel standing rigging and running rigging that were new in 2008. Equipped with a convenient furling headsail and a slab reef mainsail, this vessel allows for efficient sailing in various conditions.

Mechanical Systems:
The Westerly Griffon has the advantage of a newly installed engine and prop shaft as of 2021. Propelled by a 20HP Beta engine, with a shaft-mounted two-bladed folding gory propeller. The engine comes with a comprehensive service history from Gillingham Marina. Fuel is provided by a 30-litre steel tank. The engine is operated via Morse controls. This Westerly Griffon should expect a cruising speed of around approximately 5 knots, with a maximum speed of approximately 7 knots.
Electrical Systems;
This Westerly Griffon is equipped with two 12-volt batteries, comprising one for engine use and one for domestic purposes. These batteries charge directly from the engine alternator. The engine battery was were replaced approximately 2021 and the domestic in approximately 2018.

History & Construction:
Constructed by Westerly Yachts in 1980 according to an Ed Dubois design. Featuring a white GRP hull adorned with a teak toe rail and rubbing strake, self-draining cockpit, and white GRP decks with by blue non-slip painted surfaces. Its stability is ensured by cast iron twin bilge keels, with tiller steering and transom-hung rudder.
This Westerly Griffon has been well maintained by the current owner for the past 24 years, some extra work that has been done on this Westerly Griffon includes, Keel bolts were resealed in 2007, Cabin windows replaced and re-sealed in 2004 and then re sealed when the new headlining was added in 2013 and a new engine in 2021. The hull was stripped back to gel coat in 2022, primed, and re-antifouled. The owner is only selling as he is retiring from sailing. A copy of a 2008 survey report is available upon request.
