Fairline Squadron 59 Conwy Marina
Fairline Squadron 59 (Momentus), built in 1996 – Lying North Wales
A quality flybridge cruiser that’s built to last and has a now a very tempting price tag £185,000 or why not just try an offer?
This Squadron 59 is an outstanding example of the model! She is currently lying in North Wales and has been maintained meticulously by her owner. Currently with her second owner, she has been used in the UK and Mediterranean waters.
The Fairline Squadron 59 offers sumptuous accommodation and the usual refinements of the Fairline marque. Momentus is equipped to be equally at home in the Med or more northern cruising areas benefiting from both air conditioning and heating. Anyone looking for a Squadron 59 or 60 that is ready to cruise would be advised to consider “Momentus”. She was extensively upgraded in 2004/2005 and benefits from a full inventory including an ice-maker, generator, air conditioning and crew quarters.
Fitted with the popular Man engine option, she cruises economically and comfortably at 24 knots with a top speed of 32 knots. For a boat that weighs more than 22 Tons, this is very impressive. Having big under-stressed engines means that they can clock up the hours with few problems. This model has 1500 hours run to date and has benefited from a regular servicing. She was last serviced in 2012 and is available with full history.
All the internal joinery is in fantastic condition and the performance and sea keeping is excellent. With a good layout and large flybridge deck for its size, this vessel accommodates guests in comfort and really boasts its versatility of interior and exterior space; meeting the requirement that each individual guest may have.
Accommodation is substantial on the 59 with a large master en-suite cabin forward and two double mid cabins amidships. If you need to sleep eight then there is a crew cabin accessible from the cockpit complete with two bunks and a small en-suite.
The saloon is very inviting with plenty of seating, good quality cabinetry and upgraded suede upholstery.
The galley is located behind the helm station just opposite the dining area and boasts large worktops for preparation with all the equipment you would expect on boat of this size.
Unlike most of today’s 55-60ft flybridge boats, the 59 also has sloping internal steps leading to the flybridge, so there is no need to brave the elements as you scale a precarious flybridge ladder.
A large and very substantial bathing platform with access to the cockpit from both port and starboard also includes a stainless steel pazzerelle. The platform also has chocks for securing your rib or dinghy.
Designed by Bernard Olesinski, the Fairline Squadron 59 is an exceedingly capable long distance cruiser that handles extremely well in rough conditions. She runs smoothly into head seas and if you keep the speed above 18 knots any spray is thrown well clear of the decks.
‘Momentus’ is one of those big boat bargains. Despite its age, the standard of fit, finish and engineering remains as high as you would expect of a Fairline and the basic styling has aged remarkably well. It is worth thinking of it as an alternative to a second home with unbeatable sea views and an infinite ability to change your surroundings.
With an asking price reduced to £185,000, this quality flybridge cruiser is remarkably good value.
